AWCCA September Dinner Meeting- Virtual


Due to factors beyond our control, the AWCCA Board has decided to discontinue in-person dinner meetings until we are able to locate a new venue. We will continue to offer monthly virtual meetings in lieu of in-person dinner meetings on a virtual platform using Zoom. We will be reach out to any pre-registered in-person attendees individually.

STEPHEN C. BAKER 

Founding Member 

Mr. Baker graduated with High Distinction from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1983. While in law school, Mr. Baker was a member of the National Moot Court Team, was named Best Second Year Advocate and received American Jurisprudence awards in torts, civil procedure, conflicts and remedies. He also received the Law School Association Scholastic Award, the Arco Academic Achievement Award, and became a member of the Order of the Coif. After graduation from law school, Mr. Baker served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps. During that time, Mr. Baker was Senior Defense Counsel and later served as Senior Prosecutor. Mr. Baker was honorably discharged in 1986. Since then, Mr. Baker has been in private practice and primarily involved in insurance defense, with an emphasis in workers’ compensation. Mr. Baker represents insurance carriers and self-insured employers before the Industrial Commission on a regular basis. Mr. Baker is the managing owner in the law firm of Jardine, Baker, Hickman and Houston P.L.L.C. He is admitted to practice in Arizona and before the United States District Court. 


DENNIS R. KURTH 

Dennis Kurth has been a member of the State Bar of Arizona since 1975 and a certified specialist in workers’ compensation since 1980. He received his B.A. degree from Wabash College (1972) and his J.D. degree from Washington University in St. Louis Law School (1975). He is a co-author of the Arizona Workers’ Compensation Handbook (Chap. 12: “Exclusivity and Third-Party Liability”) (1992).
